Selection - 22-24-20-25 - Nerves kicked in to start - second round ok - Third round, after break, concentration not there. Last round ok. Concentration, concentration concentration. It's the key. Last round used the 'only the next clay matters' method |
19 April
17:28:48
|
Gweek - 25,25,23,25 - that little bit of extra lead seems to work. But remember after break, spend a couple of minutes getting head together again. Concentration is V important! |

Cornwall Selection Shoot
19.19.21.22
Lesson learnt: Keep face firmly on stock. Seem to have learnt this before!MB
|
11 April
18:23:37
|
Selection 2 - Lesson learnt...if things go wrong - keep calm! Last round missed a 25 because I let delay get to me. If I'd laughed it off..it could have been another story...Missing that clay was my fault and no excuses. REMEMBER THIS!!! |

Well I've got the gun, cartridges and money but Christ knows where I put everything else! Also take towel/rag to wipe gun if raining, gloves? and large dose of optimism!!! |

|
Other thoughts: Gun, cartridges, clay dusting ability, keen eye and money! MB

8 April

Preparation for Selection. Grease Gun, Make sure plugs, licence, goggles packed. A wide brim hat might be a good idea if it's raining because of goggles getting wet! Correct footwear, waterproof leggings. Any other thoughts? |

Saturday 28th - Allet - very windy - low 5 and 6 don't go back so far before calling. Almost point at the break point with the barrels. Thus no rush, watch it...bang...DUST! |
28 March

|
Saturday 28 March. Allet.
18.19.20.20.
Very windy.
Good practice for bad weather condition competitions.
Need to adjust low on 5. 1ft in front and 1ft below.MB

Saturday 21st March CGC
Cornwall Selection Shoot.
21. 21. 23.20.
Enjoyable day.
Learnt that keeping focused (when targets missed early on stand two). Pays off, as good scores can still be obtained.MB
|
9 March
23:01:59
|
Sat 7th March - Gweek - 24,22,23,25 - Once again over confident at times. Last round strong heartbeat but still hands - calming breaths! Just concentrating. Round 2 - missed first of pair, and swearing missed second..Swear afterwards and concentrate !!! |
28 February
13:31:25
|
Sat 28th - Allet - 24,23 - better today... Remember, the lead you think..then add another foot..Seems to work on the mid stands. Relax and enjoy. |
22 February
17:30:10
|
Sat 21st Feb - 25,23,23,22 - Disappointed with last three rounds - Remember to give 5 and 6 high a bit more lead - behind it consistantly |
22 February
11:29:04
|
Saturday 14 Feb 09: Allet.
2 Rounds. 19. 22.
Not much to say! MB
|
10 February
16:48:49
|
Cont...I was holding the gun at break point so was not leaving myself with any follow through after taking the shot. Ken and Paul.
Hold gun half way between trap house and center pin. Approx. MB

Saturday 7 Jan 09 Gweek.
3 Rounds. 19. 20. 22.
Very windy again. Found myself concentrating on the ‘leads’ so much that I was not pointing at gun hold point. |
31 January
17:15:25
|
Saturday 31 Jan 09: Allet.
3 Rounds. 22. 22. 22.
Windy conditions, used and applied all techniques learnt over past couple of months. Felt solid. Also did get new coat! Ample room!MB
|
25 January
21:12:39
|
24th Gweek - 22.25.21 - Must concentrate on all stands. May have hit 25 last round..but you still have to do it this round...SO CONCENTRATE!!! Watch the way the birds are flying for others...use this info. Don't be overconfidant...CONCENTRATE! |
25 January
16:37:46
|
Saturday 24 Jan: Gweek.
3 Rounds. 20.18. 24
Get a larger coat you fat bas***d. MB
|
13 January
02:43:08
|
Cont...Not the most pleasing of shoots, but on reflection have realised that the main thing that made the difference on final round was concentration.MB |
13 January

|
Saturday 10 Jan: Gweek:
4 Rounds. 21.19.21.24.
Thanks to Jim I have sorted out bogie stand low house six (Shoot front edge with clay on top of barrel, no lead).MB |
10 January
11:49:43
|
Gweek - 24,22,25,25 - Much relief to get a straight again - H6 does not seem a problem here - However note - if you know you are not going to hit, don't fire! Relax and take time...there is no rush! |
4 January
06:03:03
|
Cont...Time for the next lesson I think, and hopefully the next level! MB |
4 January
06:02:13
|
Saturday 3 Jan 2009: Allet.
4 Rounds. 22.20.23.20.
Fairly pleased with consistency. Not learnt a great deal from this session, other than is doesn’t take much to develop a bogie stand. MB |
3 January
20:37:15
|
Overall, the last round was ok. Just worrying about H6 from 2 caused a problem? Forget The next stand, just shoot this one. H6 will take care of itself. It was just the only one not sorted - Gweek to Allet leads..so just fix it and 25 away! |
3 January
20:33:54
|
4th Jan - Allet - 22,21,22,24 - Problems on High 6 have appeared but seem to be resolved if taken quicker. I haven't had a problem here before so I'll just put it down to Allet! Dipping high house the problem. Maybe I was just shooting it Gweek stylee ! |
30 December
18:24:16
|
27th - Gweek - 24,23?,22,24,22 I think. Can't now remember scores accurately. Thinking about scores..don't be so fixed on 25s..93/100 (or whatever) is OK. You don't have to get 25s to average a good score. Average is more important!! |
22 December
21:10:28
|
Another Old lesson : Don't keep shooting the same place if you're missing! |
20 December
14:48:49
|
20 Dec 2008:
Lesson learnt from a random days sporting: DO NOT LIFT MY BLOODY HEAD OFF OF THE STOCK!M
|
14 December
19:18:39
|
Cont. Also, ask the 'big boys' for info. Ask them if there are any tips they can give.. Watch them shoot. Watch everyone shoot. Remember with everything, Aikido, guitar etc. you can learn from starters as well as pros |
14 December
19:13:45
|
...Also, the 'Big Boys' syndrome - Must admit that I feel it as well. Not bad but it is there, want to beat them desperately, but this is the problem. Tighten up. As I said to the others, they miss too. Everyone misses. Try to be relaxed & consistant. |
14 December
19:04:29
|
Sat 13th - 24-24-24-24 - Nicely consistant but it's the thinking of getting 25 that distracts. Got to remember just concentrate on the NEXT CLAY. The one you've just shot is HISTORY, the one after this one DOES NOT EXIST, ONLY THIS ONE MATTERS! |
13 December
14:25:25
|
Cont...Also shoot faster and have more confidence on round one. An enjoyable shoot once again.M |
13 December
14:24:41
|
Saturday 13 Dec: Gweek. Christmas Shoot.
4 Rounds. 19. 21. 21. 23.
Got better as afternoon progressed, this is reassuring. Learnt to modify lead on low house pair stand 5.M |
6 December
13:56:29
|
Cont...Still need to be weary of low house from stand 4 and onwards. Also have just noticed that on all shoots since coaching, scores have increased on each shoot rather than decreasing, as happened before coaching. M
|
6 December
13:56:00
|
Saturday 6 Dec Allet.
3 Rounds. 22. 22. 24.
A pleasing shoot, did slow up at times, but at least it was only on a few individual clays not a complete round. M |
6 December
13:11:26
|
Another vital lesson - shoot the ground, not the sight picture for another ground - (does this make sense?) Just shot Allet and seemed to consistantly over lead on high on stand 4 and 5. Am I using Gweek sight pics at Allet? Probably! |
29 November
17:43:37
|
Cont...Third round, reduced lead on previously missed targets (refer to lead table), this worked. Very pleasing round, felt good.M |
29 November
17:43:01
|
Saturday 29 Nov: Gweek.First round shot far to slow, tracked targets (Went back to old ways).
Second round picked up targets using left arm and shot sight picture as soon as found. Gave most missed targets to much lead.M
