Thanks for all the '360 Stan' tunes. The idea we liked most came from Tris Puri but because of time problems we will have to play it in October, not at The Star on the 27th of this month as first mooted. Tris Puri |

I've got a wild idea. I'm thinking about putting the lyrics of '360 Stan' up on the net so that anyone can write music for the song. Then, they can contact me and, if it's any good, we'll work something out! |

Too many influences are making it impossible to come up any musical ideas for '360 Stan' at the moment. |

The very raw sound of 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go?' from The Clash is now beaming into my brain. Is this the direction for '360 Stan'? Should I Stay Or Should I Go? |

Now I'm thinking more rock/rap crossover like 'Walk This Way' from
Aerosmith/Run DMC.

I'm having trouble fitting my usual musical style to '360 Stan'. Is it more of a pop/rap crossover? For some reason Blondie's 'Rapture' keeps entering my head. Rapture |

'360 Stan' was born from a moral dilemma. Generation C now expects a lot of stuff to be free. I like free software as much as the next guy, so can I object to others wanting music to be free? |

The third verse has 360 Stan coming up against "Generation C, connected by technology" and expecting content to be free. |

In the second verse 360 Stan, a record label man, refers to changes in the music biz - "....play my new game, Promoting brand names." |

Inspiration for '360 Stan' came from the biz suffering falling record sales. As a musician I'd like to sell my songs but as I say in the first verse - "Anyone can play, but no one wants to play." |

360 Stan is a mythical record label exec who specialises in 360 deals with artists. |

Record labels now want 360s with artists covering not just sales of recorded music but live performances, tours, merchandising, publishing, sponsorship and everthing else as well. |

360 refers to the new music biz concept of '360-degree deals' (they cover every angle) aka 'multiple rights deals' aka '360 deals' aka '360s'. |

Normally I get a tune from somewhere, which then inspires the lyrics. This time the lyrics came first so I'm in unknown territory trying to find the music to match the concept. |

Working on a new song - '360 Stan'. It is sung as 'three-sixty Stan' rather than 'three hundred and sixty Stan' BTW. |
